It’s Time. Not 100% By Choice… But It’s Time

Youtube and Adobe has effectively destroyed my YT channel, and I am not that upset about it

Unfortunately it does pain me to say that I am all but done with my YT channel. YT = Youtube btw.

Years ago I would of never dreamed of anything like that. Editing videos, uploading paranormal things, podcasts, episodic videos and the occasional Katy Perry drool fest. But it has come time to shut the proverbial shutters on the channel.

I will continue to stream on the channel 11am-2pm every Sat & Sun until further notice.

This does not mean I am deleting my channel, or completely ignoring it. But Tara Dikoff is done, and no other episodic videos will be created and/or uploaded. The only thing I will be doing on it, for the time being is streaming.

I honestly thought I would be more upset about it, but looking ahead at the things I can now try and tackle instead of pigeon holing myself with censored, restricted episodic videos for YT. The one regret is not giving Tara a true ending, which I still might do on another channel or do a quick wrap up video as one of my last for YT.

So Why Does Youtube Suck & Adobe Eats Wieners?

Let’s start out with Premiere. Get that over with
What I wrote to Adobe:

I made the mistake of updating my Adobe Products. I will save everyone from the “paying for a product that always has issues” mumbo jumbo that I want to spew, this is not the place to do that.

When I am editing my videos, for some reason now the time line cursor will stop (I uploaded an image to show below, just in case I am not using the correct terminology). The video keeps playing. Then the cursor will jump to the time on the timeline and then stop again. Then it will continue to do it, it will stop for 3-5 seconds, then jump to the correct location.

It is very difficult to edit when you glance down at the cursor line thing in your timeline only to see it lagged or sitting at the wrong place in the video edit and you have to stop the video for it to “catch up.”

Now before you say it is the files and the size, wtc, I wanted to remind you, this never happened before even with much more intense videos, and my rig is not to shabby:

i9-10920x, 64GB RAM, RTX3080, WIN 10 Pro

This only happened after I updated to the latest version. I since downgraded my version to the last working one and it is still doing it. Again never happened before, this week it worked perfectly. Just started yesterday after I updated the app.

CONCLUSION:

Nothing. The conclusion is, well, nothing. Adobe doesn’t know what is going on, I can’t fix it myself and even my IT people did not want to touch it because they don’t know why a computer twice as powerful as the one I am working on at work won’t run Premiere, but the one at work will. This is not as isolated as I once thought, but only seems to be happening to powerful computers. I no longer subscribe to Adobe Premiere.

Now let’s talk Youtube and their pure incompetence with, well, everything

This weekend I found out that YT took away my “advanced” features.

I mean they really didn’t, I could still do most of them except put in a link in my description that wasn’t YT’s.

Said I had to verify the account because I did not have enough presence on the platform.

  • 17 years on youtube.
  • over 1690 vids
  • over half million views
  • 2 million hours
  • YT Premium account

I mean at what point am I not verified?

To verify, I had to record myself for 15 seconds on a video and send that to them.

No sh*t. Can’t make this stuff up.

Won’t even get to far into the “age gate” issues and the customer service that gets thrown at you. They age gate your content, but do not tell you why it was age gated. When you rant and rave on the Twitter (sorry not calling it X, Elon Musk is a f*cking idiot too) they request to review content (never ever do that) and then throw a URL at you for good measure that links to YT’s terms and services. That too, does nothing and tells you nothing. Kind of like what is in the noggins’ of those in charge of Google and YT… nothing.

I could go on and on, at least for 3-4 more issues that they have and will never fix or care about for that matter.

If you take anything out of this article, it is these two things.

1. Never ever let Youtube review anything you have. That is opening a can of worms you do not want to open. It will be up to the individual reviewer, and if they are having a bad day or have something against your content… it could end up in a channel wide unmonetization situation, multiple strikes and/or removal of your channel; depending on how badly they want you gone or you piss someone off. You maybe saying, quit being so dramatic, but I am not and it is a viable concern for every single Youtuber. It has happened, and it has happened more times than you think.

2. Never ever ever update your Adobe products until you are 100% sure it will work. I guarantee that if you update immediately you will come up with serious issues with their programs. Let the update simmer for a month or two, take a look at some forums and such about the update then make a educated decision on whether or not you want to update.
